UN Secretary-General offers mediation amid rising Pakistan-India tensions

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed deep concern over escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, urging both nations to show restraint and avoid conflict.
Speaking at a press conference, Guterres offered the UN’s support for peace efforts, stating, “War is not a solution—it only worsens the situation. “Pakistan and India must exercise restraint and prioritize dialogue.” He added that the current situation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors has reached a boiling point and emphasized the need for both countries to take steps that contribute to regional stability.
Guterres reaffirmed the UN’s readiness to support any diplomatic initiative aimed at easing tensions and promoting lasting peace in the region.
