Pakistan and Afghan Taliban Agree on Ceasefire

The governments of Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban regime have mutually agreed to a 48-hour ceasefire starting from 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ceasefire comes following days of heightened tensions and clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The Afghan Taliban requested the ceasefire after suffering significant losses in recent military operations carried out by the Pakistan Army.

A Foreign Office statement confirmed that the ceasefire was reached through mutual consent to allow diplomatic efforts aimed at peacefully resolving ongoing issues. Both sides have pledged to engage in constructive dialogue during the truce period to find a lasting solution.

Recent clashes along the border, especially in the Spin Boldak area of Chaman and the Zhob sector, involved coordinated attacks by the Afghan Taliban and allied Fitna al-Khawarij militants targeting multiple Pakistani positions. The Pakistan Army swiftly repelled these assaults, resulting in heavy casualties for the attackers and forcing them to retreat.

Military sources revealed that militants used nearby civilian villages as shields during their offensives, further complicating the conflict. Pakistan’s security forces responded decisively, killing dozens of militants and destroying several enemy hideouts and posts.

In addition to border skirmishes, the Pakistan Army launched counter-operations deep inside Afghan territory, successfully destroying key Taliban positions, including the Ghaznali post, which was abandoned by the Taliban after heavy fighting. Pakistani forces temporarily took control of 21 enemy posts and dismantled several terrorist training camps.

Security officials also reported targeted strikes against Taliban battalions in Kandahar province, causing substantial losses to Afghan and foreign militants operating in the area.

The Pakistani military condemned the destruction of the Pak-Afghan Friendship Gate, carried out from the Afghan side, calling it a clear sign of the Taliban’s hostility toward regional peace and cross-border trade. The Army also exposed Taliban propaganda attempts aimed at misleading the public regarding this incident.

Earlier, a separate joint attack by the Afghan Taliban and Fitna al-Khawarij in the Kurram sector was successfully thwarted. The Pakistan Army destroyed multiple enemy posts and tanks, killed several terrorists, and seized American-made weapons during the operation.

The Pakistan Army remains vigilant and prepared to respond strongly to any future acts of aggression, according to security sources.

In a powerful counterattack, the Pakistan Army destroyed several key Afghan Taliban camps near the Spin Boldak sector. The Ismatullah Karar Camp, a major Taliban base, was completely demolished during the operation. This camp had long served as a launchpad for attacks on Pakistan. Military sources said the response followed recent cross-border assaults by Taliban and allied terrorist groups. State-run PTV shared footage showing the total destruction of Taliban strongholds.

According to security officials, the operation targeted multiple Taliban facilities. These included Barykot Base Camp, Durrani Camp, Manoja Camp, and Jandoser Post. Other destroyed positions were Turkmanzai Post and Karzai Post. The army reported killing several Taliban fighters during the strikes. Many others fled, leaving behind weapons and uniforms. The army described the response as strong and unforgettable.
