Pakistan and Afghanistan discuss bilateral ties, trade, and refugee issues

KABUL: Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq, met Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul on Saturday to discuss key issues of mutual interest, including trade, transit, and bilateral relations.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic engagement and fostering closer cooperation. They agreed to enhance high-level dialogue to further consolidate ties between the two neighbouring countries.
Ambassador Sadiq, in a statement on social media platform X, reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to maintaining constructive and mutually beneficial relations with Afghanistan.
According to Afghan media reports, Foreign Minister Muttaqi emphasized that trade and transit challenges should be resolved without being linked to unrelated matters, as such obstacles serve neither country’s interests. Discussions also included the gradual and dignified return of Afghan refugees, highlighting the need for cooperation on humanitarian concerns.
