Pakistan and Poland Strengthen Ties

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Poland have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in several sectors, including counter-terrorism, and agreed to share information to address global security challenges.

A joint statement issued after talks between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski emphasized the significance of Sikorski’s official visit to Pakistan from October 23 to 24, 2025.

The visit was hailed as an important step in strengthening diplomatic ties and promoting peace, stability, and economic prosperity in both countries and their regions.

Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining regular high-level contacts to deepen political dialogue and expand economic cooperation. It was agreed that bilateral political consultations would take place annually.

The ministers also discussed ongoing global issues, with the Polish side briefing on the war in Ukraine, and the Pakistani side raising the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

On economic matters, the two sides agreed to increase bilateral trade, diversify trade goods, and enhance market access. They also committed to strengthening business-to-business (B2B) cooperation, including trade missions, and participation in exhibitions and conferences.

Reaffirming their shared stance against terrorism, both countries condemned terrorism in all forms and stressed the need for a firm implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions and strategies. They agreed to enhance the exchange of information and best practices to counter terrorism effectively.

During that month, China installed 93 gigawatts (GW) of solar capacity and 26 GW of wind power, equivalent to installing nearly 100 solar panels every second. Experts say this level of generation could also meet the energy needs of countries like Sweden or the UAE.

Between January and May, China added 198 GW of solar and 46 GW of wind capacity, enough to power nations like Indonesia or Turkey.

For the first time, China’s total solar capacity surpassed 1,000 GW, now accounting for half of the world’s total solar infrastructure.

According to Lauri Myllyvirta of the Asia Society Policy Institute, China remains one of the world’s largest emitters of greenhouse gases, it is also emerging as the global leader in clean energy technology and deployment.
