Pakistan Celebrates PLA’s 98th Anniversary, Reinforces Strong China Tie

Rawalpindi, August 1 — Pakistan marked the 98th anniversary of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) with a formal ceremony held at GHQ. The event honored decades of military cooperation and highlighted the growing strength of Pakistan-China relations.

His Excellency Mr. Jiang Zaidong, China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, attended as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries included Major General Wang Zhong, Defence Attaché, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior officers from Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir warmly welcomed the Chinese delegation. He congratulated the PLA on its historic milestone and praised its role in China’s defense, security, and national development.

The Army Chief emphasized that the Pakistan-China friendship is time-tested and resilient. He noted that both nations have supported each other through regional and global challenges over the years.

He further stated that the strategic partnership between the two countries is built on mutual trust, shared goals, and unwavering support. The Pakistan Army views the PLA as a true brother-in-arms, committed to peace and stability in the region.

The Field Marshal also said this partnership remains strong despite shifting global power dynamics. He highlighted that both countries continue to play key roles in maintaining regional balance and shared security interests.

In his address, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked the Pakistan Army for hosting the event. He also acknowledged the critical role of Pakistan’s Armed Forces in fighting terrorism and promoting peace.

He concluded by reaffirming China’s firm support for its strategic partnership with Pakistan. The event showcased the enduring strength of the relationship and the shared vision for continued cooperation.
