Pakistan Foils Indian False-Flag Operation Involving Fisherman

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s security agencies have thwarted an alleged Indian false-flag operation involving a Pakistani fisherman. The plot aimed to use military uniforms and other materials to stage a propaganda attack on Pakistan. Information Minister Atta Tarar and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhary revealed details at a press conference in Islamabad. They said this operation was part of a broader Indian misinformation campaign following the failure of Operation Sindoor.
According to the ministers, Pakistani fisherman Ejaz Mallah was arrested by Indian authorities in September 2025 while fishing in international waters. Indian intelligence allegedly coerced Mallah into procuring specific items from Pakistan, including military uniforms from the Navy, Army, and Sindh Rangers. These items were intended to be used in a false-flag operation to implicate Pakistan in illegal activities. Mallah was also instructed to buy local items like Pakistani currency, cigarette packets, and Zong SIM cards to link the operation to Chinese networks.
The security agencies acted swiftly, arresting Mallah at sea before he could deliver the items to India. The authorities recovered military uniforms, SIM cards, and other items, and Mallah later confessed to his involvement. Officials confirmed that Mallah had been promised 95,000 rupees for his efforts, with the remainder to be paid after successful delivery. The authorities also intercepted communication between Mallah and his Indian handler, confirming the conspiracy.
The operation aimed to mislead the international community by staging a false arrest of Pakistani military personnel. Additionally, the inclusion of Zong SIM cards was intended to falsely implicate Chinese networks in the operation. Pakistani officials said this attempt was linked to India’s larger propaganda strategy, especially with upcoming elections. They also noted that the timing of the operation coincided with a major Indian naval exercise near Pakistan’s border.
Pakistan has condemned India’s actions and presented evidence of the operation to its international partners. Officials said that India’s efforts to fabricate such plots only harm its reputation on the global stage. Pakistan vowed to continue exposing these baseless conspiracies and called for greater international scrutiny of India’s disinformation campaigns.
