In a significant move to promote religious harmony and cultural exchange, Pakistan has issued over 6,500 visas to Indian Sikh pilgrims for the upcoming Baisakhi festival.

The annual Baisakhi celebrations are scheduled to take place in Pakistan from April 10 to 19, 2025. The visas were issued by the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi as part of Pakistan’s continued efforts to strengthen people-to-people connections between the two neighbouring countries.

During their stay, the Indian pilgrims will visit several prominent religious sites, including Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hasan Abdal, Gurdwara Nankana Sahib — the birthplace of Guru Nanak — and Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, which holds deep spiritual significance for Sikhs worldwide.

Chargé d’affaires of Pakistan in New Delhi, Saad Ahmad Warraich, said that the large number of visas granted reflects Pakistan’s commitment to promoting interfaith harmony and cultural understanding. He reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue facilitating such religious visits under the 1974 Pakistan-India Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines.
