The Ministry of Interior has officially announced the launch of a new mobile application designed to streamline the services provided by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The new app is set to replace the existing Pak ID website, which will be shut down starting January 17.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi explained that the decision to close the website was made after receiving feedback from citizens, particularly overseas Pakistanis, who faced difficulties while using the site. Common issues included trouble uploading documents and biometrics, leading to frustration among users. Furthermore, the minister highlighted the growing concern about counterfeit websites run by fraudulent elements attempting to create fake identity documents and misuse citizens’ data.

To combat these issues and enhance security, a new mobile app has been developed, offering a more efficient and secure platform for accessing NADRA services. The app will enable citizens to easily apply for a variety of services, including national identity cards, NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis), POC (Pakistan Origin Card), B-Form, and FRC (Family Registration Certificate).

In addition to the mobile app launch, Minister Naqvi announced plans to expand NADRA’s presence in remote regions of Pakistan. Three new regional centres will be established in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gwadar, and Gilgit-Baltistan by March 31. These new facilities are expected to improve service delivery in underserved areas, ensuring faster resolution of public issues and providing more convenient access to NADRA’s services.

The government also aims to establish NADRA offices in all districts of the country by the same deadline, with only 19 districts remaining without a NADRA office. Naqvi emphasised that the expansion would help in addressing citizen complaints more effectively and bring NADRA’s services closer to the people.

The interior minister further reassured the public that NADRA is working in close collaboration with other government institutions to take stringent action against individuals involved in illegal activities related to fake identity documents.
