Pakistan on IMF Agenda: $1.1 Billion Aid Approval Expected Today

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board is set to convene today (Friday), with Pakistan featured on its official agenda for critical financial discussions.

During the meeting, the IMF board is anticipated to approve a disbursement of $1.1 billion for Pakistan as part of the country’s ongoing financial assistance program. This funding is expected to provide vital support for Pakistan’s economic stability.

The IMF indicates that the session will address the initial review under the Extended Arrangement of the Extended Fund Facility, as well as a request to modify performance criteria. Furthermore, discussions regarding Pakistan’s request for an arrangement under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility are set for May 9.

In parallel to this development, Pakistan has secured $1.3 billion in climate financing from the IMF, aimed at supporting the country’s efforts to combat climate change and enhance sustainability.
