Pakistan team manager Naveed Akram Cheema has formally protested against India’s behavior during their Asia Cup 2025 match. He claimed the Indian players refused to shake hands after the game, calling it unsportsmanlike. Cheema said such actions go against the spirit of cricket. He added that Pakistan’s reaction was natural given the circumstances. Tensions rose after Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha boycotted the post-match ceremony in protest.

Officials later revealed that the match referee had advised captains not to shake hands at the toss. However, Pakistan felt the Indian team’s attitude went beyond that instruction. Head coach Mike Hesson defended his players, saying their response was a “natural reaction” to the snub. The incident has sparked debate about sportsmanship at the tournament. It also highlighted ongoing tensions between the two cricketing rivals.

Despite the controversy, India comfortably won the match. Chasing a target of 128, they reached the goal in just 15.5 overs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav led the way with an unbeaten 47 off 37 balls. He was supported by Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma, who scored 31 runs each. The win gave India a strong boost in the group stage.

Pakistan struggled with both bat and ball in the high-pressure clash. After choosing to bat first, they managed only 127 for 9 in 20 overs. The batting order collapsed under pressure from India’s sharp bowling attack. Saim Ayub was Pakistan’s only bright spot, taking all three Indian wickets.

The off-field drama has overshadowed the on-field result. Fans and experts now await an official statement from the Asia Cup organizers. As the tournament progresses, both teams will look to move past the controversy and focus on cricket.
