Pakistan Railways Hits Record Rs83 Billion Revenue in 11 Months

Pakistan Railways has reached a major financial milestone by generating Rs83 billion in revenue during the first eleven months of the current fiscal year—its highest ever earnings for this period.

This remarkable achievement reflects ongoing improvements in operations, efficiency, and financial management across the organisation. With one month still remaining in the fiscal year, Pakistan Railways is on track to surpass its previous annual record of Rs88 billion.

The breakdown of the revenue shows that passenger train services contributed Rs42 billion, while freight operations generated Rs29 billion. An additional Rs12 billion was earned through various other sources.

Among all divisions, Karachi stood out by contributing Rs13 billion through passenger services and Rs25 billion via freight, making it the highest-earning division. Lahore followed with Rs10 billion from passengers and Rs0.75 billion from freight. Rawalpindi and Multan divisions each added Rs4 billion through passenger services, totalling Rs8 billion combined.

This year’s figures mark a clear improvement over last year, when the organisation reported Rs77 billion in the same eleven-month timeframe.

Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, commended the performance, crediting the entire Pakistan Railways team for their dedication and perseverance. He reiterated the ministry’s commitment to rebuilding and modernising the railway system, saying, “With hard work and determination, we will restore Pakistan Railways and keep moving forward on the path to progress.”
