Pakistan Reaffirms Full Support for Independent Palestinian State
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital.

Speaking in a detailed interview during his visit to New York, Dar emphasised Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to the Palestinian cause and their right to self-determination based on pre-1967 borders.

Dar expressed strong support for the upcoming United Nations peace conference being co-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia, calling it a “crucial step” toward lasting peace and the global recognition of Palestinian statehood.

“Pakistan stands firmly with every initiative that promotes justice and peace for the Palestinian people,” he said.
The conference is expected to focus on a ceasefire, humanitarian access, and political recognition—three key areas Dar described as “non-negotiable in achieving sustainable peace.”

Highlighting Pakistan’s active role, Dar noted that Pakistan has consistently provided humanitarian aid to Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon since the onset of the latest crisis. Multiple aid consignments have already been delivered, and Pakistan is prepared to assist in post-war reconstruction efforts as well.

He called on the international community to step up:

“It is no longer acceptable for global powers to remain silent while civilians suffer. Reconstruction and relief must be prioritised immediately.”

Dar underscored Pakistan’s strong diplomatic efforts on international platforms. He chaired a UN Security Council debate on Palestine on July 24, where he reiterated Pakistan’s call for an immediate ceasefire, compliance with international law, and implementation of UN Security Council resolutions.

He emphasised that Pakistan uses all available platforms—including the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), UN General Assembly (UNGA), and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO)—to advocate for both the Palestinian and Kashmir causes, drawing attention to the parallels between the two unresolved disputes.

“Pakistan has always spoken for the oppressed, whether in Kashmir or Gaza. Peace can only be achieved through dialogue, diplomacy, and respect for international law, not through military aggression,” he stated.

Dar did not hold back in criticising the global community for what he described as a lack of accountability regarding Israel’s actions in Gaza. He expressed disappointment over the neglect of the International Court of Justice’s findings, warning that silence in the face of humanitarian violations sets a dangerous precedent.

He stressed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and he have consistently raised their voices on every global platform, urging the world to recognise and act upon the injustices faced by the Palestinian people.
