Pakistan, Russia Sign Protocol to Revive Pakistan Steel Mills

Pakistan and Russia have signed a protocol to revive and modernise the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) in Karachi, marking a major step toward revitalising Pakistan’s industrial sector.

A high-level Pakistani delegation, led by Adviser to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan, visited Russia for the signing. The protocol was inked by Pakistan’s Federal Secretary for Industries and Production, Syed Saif Anjum, and Russian representative Vadim Velichko.

Speaking on the occasion, Haroon Akhtar Khan said, “This collaboration will mark a new chapter in Pakistan’s industrial development. Established in 1971 with support from the former Soviet Union, the Pakistan Steel Mills is once again set to rise with Russian cooperation.”

He emphasised that the revival of PSM aligns with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of accelerating industrial growth and job creation. “This strategic partnership will enhance industrial productivity and create employment opportunities,” he added.
