Pakistani Students Win Four Medals at Global Nuclear Science Olympiad

Pakistani students made the country proud by winning four medals at the 2nd International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO-2025) in Malaysia.
The global competition ran from July 30 to August 5 and featured participants from 19 countries. The event was held under the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), showcasing nuclear science talent worldwide.
Team Pakistan earned one Gold, one Silver, and two Bronze medals, proving the strength of its young scientific minds. Muhammad Tayyab Bukhari from Abbottabad won Gold, while Ammar Asad Warraich from Islamabad took Silver. Rawah Javed from Islamabad and Tatheer Aima Naqvi from Jhang received Bronze medals.
Countries like China, Japan, Singapore, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia also took part in the Olympiad. Yet, Pakistan stood out with its strong performance among these top competitors. The results highlighted Pakistan’s academic excellence and growing presence in international science forums.
The students were guided by Dr. Sajjad Tahir from the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS). They were also mentored by Dr. Muhammad Maqsood of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC). Their leadership played a key role in the students’ success.
This victory reflects the efforts of institutions like PIEAS and PAEC in preparing future scientists. Their hard work continues to promote science and technology education in the country. The win shows the potential of Pakistani youth in high-level scientific research.
Moreover, this achievement proves Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful uses of nuclear science.
