A meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security is underway under the chairmanship of the Speaker, following the attack on the Jaffer Express train. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir are attending the meeting.

During the session, the Army Chief addressed the participants for 50 minutes, briefing them on the recent wave of terrorism and security measures being taken.

Additionally, the Director General Military Operations (DGMO) provided a detailed briefing, which lasted over an hour. The briefing highlighted that “Fitna Khawarij” (a term used for extremist elements) is responsible for the recent terrorist incidents and that these elements are receiving support from India’s intelligence agency RAW and Afghanistan. It was further revealed that hostile foreign agencies are destabilising Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, with terrorists using foreign-made weapons.

Evidence was also presented regarding the use of Afghan soil for terrorist activities, with specific references to the Jaffer Express attack being operated from Afghanistan. Participants were shown key evidence through slides and presentations, providing insight into the security situation.
