PCB Decides to Remove Mohammad Wasim

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to renew the contract of Mohammad Wasim, who currently serves as the head coach of the national women’s cricket team, sources confirmed on Sunday.

According to sources, the board has finalized the decision to remove Wasim from his position, with the appointment of a new head coach expected next week.

Mohammad Wasim was appointed as head coach in 2024, but under his coaching tenure, the Pakistan women’s team’s performance continued to decline.
Despite receiving full support from the board, Wasim failed to deliver satisfactory results, insiders added.

PCB officials are reportedly consulting on a new coaching setup, with the possibility of hiring foreign coaches also under consideration.

The decision follows a string of poor performances by the Pakistan women’s team in recent T20 and ODI series, prompting the board to restructure its coaching staff.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially appointed Mike Hesson as the white-ball head coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team. His tenure will begin on 26 May 2025, ahead of a busy limited-overs calendar.

The decision follows a thorough recruitment process, during which several applications were evaluated after the coaching position became vacant following Pakistan’s tour to New Zealand in April.

Mike Hesson, a seasoned cricket strategist, has previously coached New Zealand and Kenya at the international level. He also has a strong presence in franchise cricket and is currently the head coach of Islamabad United, the reigning champions of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).
