PDM Punjab issues weather alert 2025: Rain and snow expected across the region

The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDM Punjab) has issued a weather alert following forecasts from the Meteorological Department, which predict the entry of western winds into the northern regions of the country.

According to PDM Punjab spokesperson, widespread rainfall is expected in most districts of Punjab from January 2 to 6. The rain, combined with snowfall in mountainous areas, is likely to increase the severity of the cold weather.

Districts such as Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, and Gujrat are likely to experience rainfall. Lahore, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Narowal, and Sialkot may also receive rain during this period.

Light rain is expected in southern areas, including Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, and Bahawalnagar.

The spokesperson further warned that snowfall is anticipated in the hilly regions, including Murree, Galyat, and other mountainous areas, from January 1 to 6.

Director General of PDM Punjab, Irfan Ali Kathia, advised tourists to exercise caution and adjust their plans according to the weather conditions. He urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions. PDM Punjab’s control room is actively monitoring the situation 24/7.
