PHC Orders Immediate Reopening Of Roads Blocked By PTI Protests

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court expressed strong anger over road closures caused by PTI protests. The court ordered authorities to reopen all roads immediately. It also directed officials to submit a compliance report by tomorrow. Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Farah Jamshed heard the petition. The Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police appeared before the bench.
During the hearing, the Advocate General said lawmakers had gone to Islamabad. He said they aimed to ensure implementation of a Supreme Court order. However, the court stated Islamabad was outside its jurisdiction. The bench directed authorities to take action against protesters. The IG requested two days to respond, but the court rejected the delay.
The court observed that blocking roads violated the law. It said the ruling party was troubling its own citizens. The petitioner’s lawyer told the court that two people died due to road blockages. The bench stressed that motorways must never be blocked. It also ordered that no protests should disrupt daily life in Peshawar.
