PIA Launches Direct Flight from Lahore to Baku, Strengthening Ties with Azerbaijan

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially launched its direct flight from Lahore to Baku, a significant milestone in enhancing air connectivity between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. The inaugural flight, PK-159, took off from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport following a ceremony held at the international departure lounge.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Federal Minister for Defence, the Director General of Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), senior PIA officials, and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan. A ceremonial cake-cutting ceremony was held to mark the special occasion, celebrating the start of this new air route.

A total of 174 passengers were onboard the first flight to Baku, marking the beginning of a regular air link between the two countries. According to PIA officials, two weekly flights will be operated on this route as part of the airline’s expansion plans into Central Asia.
