PIA to resume UK flights after Eidul Fitr following EU ban lift

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to resume direct flights to the United Kingdom (UK) after Eidul Fitr, following the lifting of the European Union’s ban, announced Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr Mohammad Faisal.
During an Iftar dinner in London with journalists and social media influencers, Dr Faisal confirmed that the first phase of flight operations will include routes from London and Manchester to Pakistan, while efforts are also being made to restart flights from Birmingham.
A special ceremony will be held to officially mark the resumption of flights, with media representatives in attendance.
The European Union imposed a ban on PIA flights in June 2020 after a tragic plane crash in Karachi, followed by concerns over pilot licensing issues. The ban remained in place for over four and a half years before being lifted.
Following the ban’s removal, PIA successfully resumed flights to Paris on January 10, 2024, marking an important step in restoring operations to Europe.
