PM Shehbaz Sharif and COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir Address Grand Jirga in Quetta

Quetta – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir NI (M) jointly addressed a Grand Jirga of tribal elders at Zehri Auditorium in Quetta, focusing on regional peace and the fight against terrorism, particularly the ongoing Indian-sponsored proxy war in Balochistan.

The Jirga was convened to foster dialogue with tribal leadership and discuss the security challenges impacting the region. The Prime Minister highlighted how Indian proxies are actively working to destabilise Balochistan, disrupt development projects, and create unrest. He urged local communities to deny these elements any support or shelter, emphasising that the cooperation of tribal elders is vital for long-term peace.

“Terrorists and their sponsors will find no haven in Pakistan,” PM Shehbaz stated. “The Government, Armed Forces, and Law Enforcement Agencies, with the full backing of the people, are united in this fight against terrorism, and we will see it through to a decisive end.”

The Prime Minister also shed light on major development initiatives underway in Balochistan and stressed the importance of ensuring that these efforts bring real benefits to the local population. He praised the people of Balochistan for their historic role in promoting unity and urged continued vigilance against foreign-backed subversion.

Field Marshal Asim Munir, addressing the tribal elders, declared that India’s proxy war is now an “open act of terrorism” aimed at sabotaging Pakistan’s peace and progress. “We possess undeniable evidence of India’s hand in terrorist activities in Balochistan,” he stated. “But rest assured, the Pakistan Army, supported by the resilient people of Balochistan, will confront every threat—internal or external—and safeguard our sovereignty.”

The Army Chief reaffirmed that peace in Balochistan is not up for compromise and that a stable province is essential for the future of Pakistan.

Both leaders paid tribute to the sacrifices of security forces and law enforcement agencies. The Prime Minister also assured the families of martyrs (Shuhada) that justice will be delivered, and those responsible for aiding terrorists will not escape accountability.

The Jirga concluded with a unanimous pledge by tribal elders to stand firm with the government and armed forces, reinforcing their commitment to the region’s security and development.

Earlier, PM Shehbaz Sharif also visited the Command & Staff College Quetta, where he addressed student officers and faculty. He emphasised the government’s unwavering support for strengthening Pakistan’s defence institutions and highlighted the critical need for strategic readiness in the face of hybrid and regional threats, especially in Balochistan.
