PM Shehbaz Sharif Leaves for China to Attend SCO Summit and Strengthen Ties

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed for China on an important visit. He will attend the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of State summit in Tianjin.

 

Before leaving, the Prime Minister posted on social media platform X. He confirmed his participation in the SCO summit and other important events.

He also announced that he will attend celebrations in Beijing marking the 80th anniversary of victory in the Second World War against fascism.

In his message, Shehbaz Sharif said he looked forward to meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other world leaders. He stressed Pakistan aims to further strengthen its strategic partnership with China.

The Prime Minister explained that the purpose of his visit is to improve ties with regional countries. He said it will enhance cooperation, strengthen multilateral engagement, and promote peace and prosperity.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif is travelling at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. He is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Advisor Tariq Fatemi.

Shehbaz Sharif will address the SCO summit. He is expected to highlight Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, connectivity, and development for the people of the region.

He will also speak about the severe impacts of climate change on member countries. Rising natural disasters and environmental challenges will be part of his speech.

Later, Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Beijing. He will attend China’s 80th anniversary celebrations of the People’s War of Resistance and hold bilateral meetings with Chinese leaders.

The Prime Minister will also chair the second Business-to-Business investment conference in China. He will meet Chinese business leaders, promote Pakistan’s investor-friendly policies, and invite fresh investment in key sectors.
