PM Shehbaz Sharif to announce major relief in electricity soon: energy minister

Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari has revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to announce a significant relief package for electricity consumers in the coming days.

Speaking on Dunya News’ programme “Tonight with Samar Abbas,” Leghari assured that electricity consumers would soon receive good news, adding that the government plans to clear the circular debt within the next six years without imposing any additional financial burden on the public.

Addressing the solar net metering policy, the minister stated that without the recently introduced net monitoring policy, consumers would have faced a burden of Rs 3,000 billion. He also highlighted that solar energy expenses for industries would be recovered within 1.5 years, making it a cost-effective and sustainable option.
