PM Shehbaz Sharif Welcomes International Court’s Ruling on Indus Waters Treaty

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the Permanent Court of Arbitration’s Supplemental Award concerning the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), saying the decision strengthens Pakistan’s long-held position that India cannot unilaterally suspend the treaty.
In a statement released by the PM Office on Saturday, Shehbaz Sharif emphasised the importance of water as a lifeline for the country, adding that the government is actively working on better water resource management.
The Prime Minister also appreciated the efforts of Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Attorney General Mansoor Awan for representing Pakistan’s case effectively at the international level.
