President Zardari Urges Serene Air CEO to Expand Fleet

KASHGAR: Yunchun Yang, CEO of Serene Air, met President Asif Ali Zardari in Kashgar, China, on Saturday. He shared the airline’s future plans to expand operations in Pakistan. President Zardari encouraged the company to increase its aircraft fleet. He emphasized enhancing both domestic and international connectivity. Strengthening Pakistan’s aviation network was also a key focus during the meeting.

The meeting included Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, and the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan. This high-level presence highlighted the importance of Serene Air’s role in bilateral relations. Dr. Yang, who holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, also leads a semiconductor company. His commitment to investing more in Pakistan’s aviation sector reassured the president.

Serene Air is the first Chinese private investor in Pakistan’s aviation market. It is also the first private Pakistani airline flying to Beijing. This milestone marks growing cooperation between the two countries. Dr. Yang spoke about several joint projects with the Pakistan Air Force. One of these involves avionics for the JF-17 fighter jets.

The airline’s growth plans include increasing the number of flights and expanding routes. This expansion aims to boost trade and tourism between Pakistan and China. It will also create more jobs and support economic development. President Zardari welcomed these initiatives and stressed long-term collaboration.
