Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hails a record increase in remittances

Islamabad, January 10, 2025 – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday extended his congratulations to the nation following a record increase in remittances, highlighting a significant rise in the inflow of funds from overseas Pakistanis.
In a statement, the Prime Minister revealed that Pakistan received $3.1 billion in remittances in December 2024, marking a 5.6 per cent increase compared to November 2024. Furthermore, remittances in December 2024 were up by an impressive 29.3 per cent compared to the same month in 2023.
PM Shehbaz expressed his gratitude to the overseas Pakistani community, describing the increase in remittances as a testament to their unwavering commitment to supporting the development of their home country. He also emphasised that this surge in remittances refuted claims made by critics who had predicted that Pakistan’s economy would falter.
“The record increase in remittances demonstrates the determination of our overseas brothers and sisters, who continue to contribute significantly to Pakistan’s progress,” the prime minister said.
