The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced the distribution of 200 free smartphones to female SIM cardholders in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan through a lucky draw.

According to details, these devices have been donated by local mobile phone manufacturers. Winners will also receive 2GB of free data and 200 on-net minutes, redeemable by dialling *2200#.

This initiative celebrates a major milestone—150 million broadband users and 2 million fibre optic users in Pakistan.

Speaking at the launch event, Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasised that spectrum auctions and a national fibrisation policy will soon be introduced. She also highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to provide smartphones in easy instalments and improve digital access for women.

Shaza noted that the previous PML-N government had distributed 1.2 million laptops on merit and that increasing mobile and internet access for women remains a key achievement.
