PTA confirms Starlink’s registration?

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has confirmed that the registration process for Starlink—SpaceX’s satellite internet service—is currently underway.
This follows a high-level meeting between PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeezur Rehman and Starlink’s team at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona. Discussions centred on expanding affordable broadband access, especially in remote areas, to bridge Pakistan’s digital divide.
PTA reassured its commitment to fostering innovation and integrating satellite-based internet solutions nationwide. However, Starlink must complete regulatory approvals before launching services in Pakistan.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk previously stated that Starlink had applied for official approval and was awaiting the government’s green light. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Standing Committee on IT & Telecommunication has urged PTA to expedite the process for Starlink’s launch.
If approved, Starlink could revolutionize connectivity in Pakistan’s underserved regions, bringing high-speed internet to millions.
