Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday, requesting permission to hold a public rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on April 22. The petition, filed by PTI leader Akmal Khan Bari, names the Lahore Deputy Commissioner as the respondent in the case.

In his petition, Bari stated that he had previously sought approval to hold a rally on March 22 but was unable to do so due to what he called the “delaying tactics” employed by the Deputy Commissioner. Bari further argued that the court’s verdict on the earlier petition was announced without providing PTI a chance to present its side of the case.

The petitioner emphasised that PTI had complied with all legal formalities and that they were unjustly denied the opportunity to hold the rally. He urged the court to consider granting permission for the rally on April 22, which would be a significant event for the party.

The Lahore High Court is expected to hear the petition and provide a verdict in the coming days. This move by PTI comes amid the party’s ongoing political activities, as it seeks to organise large public gatherings to demonstrate support ahead of upcoming political events.
