PTI terms Supreme Court’s reserved seats verdict ‘unjust and disappointing’

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has strongly rejected the Supreme Court’s decision to deny it reserved seats, calling it “disappointing” and “a grave injustice.”

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said the verdict misinterprets the Constitution and deprives PTI of seats it rightfully won. He added, “The shadow of Justice Qazi Faez Isa still looms over the judiciary. Time will prove this decision wrong.”

He confirmed that no legal avenue remains, and the party will now protest at public and political forums.

PTI further stated that the same Supreme Court had previously upheld the party’s constitutional right to these seats. Distributing reserved seats amongst rejected parties is a violation of the Constitution. “Today marks a dark day in Pakistan’s judicial history,” the party said.

It added that the decision tramples on public mandate, voter representation, and constitutional principles.

The Supreme Court upheld the Peshawar High Court verdict and annulled the earlier decision to award PTI the reserved seats.
