PTI’s Marwat: Workers will only hear Imran Khan’s protest call.

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has stated that the party’s workers will respond only to directives from PTI founder Imran Khan, rejecting any protest call from his wife, Bushra Bibi, or his sisters. His remarks were made during an appearance on Geo News’ program Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath.
Marwat expressed a keen interest in participating in the upcoming protest scheduled for November 24 in Islamabad. However, he lamented not being invited to a recent PTI meeting held in Peshawar, where discussions about his role in the party were also held.
The statement comes amid reports that Imran’s sister Aleema Khan and lawyer Faisal Chaudhry revealed the former prime minister, currently incarcerated, had called for the protest. However, concerns have emerged among senior PTI leaders that this move could backfire, given the party’s ongoing legal and political struggles.
Concerns Over Protest Strategy
Marwat underscored the need for a well-defined protest strategy, warning that failing to finalise plans within two days could hinder the party’s ability to stage a full-scale sit-in at D-Chowk. Highlighting the logistical challenges, he questioned how the party would maintain its presence in Islamabad, particularly given the expected turnout from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Party insiders revealed that several senior PTI leaders and former members of parliament are sceptical of the protest. They fear it could lead to further arrests and cases against PTI workers and leaders, as the government may counter it with state power.

Internal Party Rifts
The PTI, which has long campaigned against dynastic politics, is now being criticised following reports that Bushra Bibi has taken an active role in party matters, including issuing instructions and summoning meetings. Marwat’s comments reflect growing discontent within the party about leadership dynamics and organisational issues.
