Punjab Approves 400-Acre Industrial Estate in Sialkot

SIALKOT — The Punjab government has given a green light to establish a new industrial estate in Sialkot, which will span over 400 acres near the city’s airport, officials confirmed.

The decision came during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, where plans to boost industrial growth and attract foreign investment were discussed in detail.

As part of the broader initiative:

  • Chunian Industrial Estate will be handed over to the Department of Fisheries.

  • Proposals are under review to offer the Bhalwal, Vehari, and Bahawalpur Industrial Estates to Saudi investors.

Action Ordered Over Industrial Irregularities

During the session, audit reports of FEDMIC and PEDMIC were presented, highlighting serious financial misconduct and irregularities. The chief minister expressed concern over the lack of accountability in the past and ordered strict action against those found responsible.

Maryam Nawaz also instructed a comprehensive policy review of all industrial estates, including rule amendments, to improve transparency and operational efficiency.

KSEZ Recognized Internationally

In a separate development, Khairpur Special Economic Zone (KSEZ) has been ranked among the Top Industrial Zones in the Asia-Pacific Region, a major recognition announced by Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah.

This achievement marks a significant step forward for Pakistan’s industrial development on the global stage.
