Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sharply criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), calling it a “group of terrorists” during an address at an event on Tuesday.

In her statement, CM Maryam emphasised the need to “clean the dirt” from Punjab and the rest of Pakistan, recalling the violent events that unfolded on May 9 last year. She pointed out the lack of public confidence in PTI’s leadership following the chaos on that day, stating, “People have not shown confidence in you [PTI leadership] after the May 9 mayhem.”

Further condemning PTI’s activities, CM Maryam accused the party of failing to rally more than a few dozen individuals for protests, despite repeated calls for demonstrations. She also referred to the deaths and destruction during the protests, claiming that “the fake propaganda of the deaths had been staged.”

“The fires directly affected the police officers. The PTI founder is responsible if anybody lost their lives,” she asserted.

CM Maryam also took aim at the PTI founder, suggesting that after leading the country for four years, the party leader should now “relax in jail” instead of attempting to garner support for protests.
