Punjab Government Ends Fees for Birth and Death Registration

Lahore: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ended the fees for birth and death registration.

Now, people across Punjab can register births and deaths for free at Union Councils and Municipal Committees.

The new rules (2025) also allow free computerised certificates of birth and death.

You can register events up to 7 years old without any charges, and there is no need for a court order for late registration anymore.

Maryam Nawaz said:

“Every citizen has the right to identity. We want to make things easier for the people.”

She added that digital certificates will be needed for getting many services, so timely registration is very important.
