Punjab government rejects PTI’s request for Minar-e-Pakistan rally

Lahore – The Punjab government has denied Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) request to hold a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on March 22, citing security concerns.
Justice Farooq Haider of the Lahore High Court reviewed PTI’s request but disposed of the plea after the deputy commissioner (DC) of Lahore submitted a report justifying the rejection.
According to the report, recent terrorist incidents, including the Bannu Cantt attack and the Jaffer Express bombing, have raised security threats. Additionally, intelligence alerts have warned that a militant group has trained 76 terrorists who could target gatherings.
Given the security risks, the high court ruled that PTI has the right to challenge the deputy commissioner’s decision through legal channels.
