Qatari Prime Minister Meets Top U.S. Leaders in Washington
Washington: Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, held talks in Washington with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Middle East.

According to reports, the discussions focused on strengthening security and defence cooperation between Doha and Washington. The talks also addressed the recent Israeli strikes on Doha and the broader regional tensions.

Al Jazeera reported that the United States views Qatar as a key ally in the Gulf region, hosting the Al Udeid Air Base. President Donald Trump has previously voiced strong disapproval of Israel’s targeting of Qatar.

The Qatari Prime Minister is also scheduled to meet President Trump later today. That meeting is expected to continue discussions on Israel’s recent airstrike on Doha as well as efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza.

On September 9, Israeli forces carried out an airstrike in Doha targeting Hamas leadership. Six people were killed in the attack, though senior Hamas leaders escaped unharmed.
