Queen Mary Dazzles in Red and Diamonds at Latvian State Banquet with King Frederik

Denmark’s Queen Mary looked radiant as she joined King Frederik X at a grand state banquet on Tuesday, October 28, marking the conclusion of the royal couple’s first day in Latvia.
Hosted by President Edgars Rinkēvičs at Riga Castle, the event was a dazzling affair celebrating the strong diplomatic ties between Denmark and Latvia.
Queen Mary, 52, stunned in a deep red satin gown by Danish designer Soeren Le Schmidt, featuring a sweetheart neckline and an elegant pleated A-line skirt. The queen completed her look with the Antique Edwardian tiara, a historic piece dating back to the early 1900s, purchased at auction in 2012.
Meanwhile, King Frederik, 57, complemented his wife in a formal tuxedo paired with his naval uniform jacket, proudly displaying his medals and royal honors.
During the banquet, the royal couple greeted guests warmly. In his speech, King Frederik expressed gratitude for the hospitality, saying:
“On behalf of the Queen and myself, I would like to thank you for the warm welcome here in Latvia. We greatly appreciate the pronounced harmony that prevails between our two countries.”
Earlier in the day, King Frederik received the Grand Cross of the Order of the Knights of the Cross, Latvia’s highest military distinction, while Queen Mary was honored with the Grand Cross of the Order of the Three Stars.
The visit marks a new chapter in Denmark–Latvia relations, highlighting both nations’ commitment to mutual friendship and cooperation.
