Lahore: Nadeem Omar, the owner of Quetta Gladiators, has announced the appointment of Sarfraz Ahmed, the former captain, as the team’s new head coach for the upcoming season. This decision comes as part of a strategic move to entrust Sarfraz with new responsibilities within the team.

Sarfraz Ahmed, who was included in the PSL 10 players’ draft, went unsold during the selection process. However, taking advantage of this, Nadeem Omar decided to promote him to the role of head coach of the Gladiators, a position that underscores Sarfraz’s deep connection with the team. Additionally, Shoaib Malik has been selected as a supplementary player for the team.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Nadeem Omar emphasized that Sarfraz Ahmed was an integral part of the Quetta Gladiators, referring to him as the “heart and soul” of the team. He further added, “The Gladiators cannot part ways with Sarfraz. You will now see him in a new role, leading the team from the front.”

Omar also highlighted that Sarfraz would work under the mentorship of Moin Khan, with both Moin Khan and Omar taking a step back to let Sarfraz lead the team. The arrangement aims to provide Sarfraz with an opportunity to grow as a coach while benefiting from Moin Khan’s experience.
