Bhopal: A 23-year-old woman named Anuradha Paswan has been arrested in India for marrying 25 men in just seven months and running away with their valuables. Police have nicknamed her the “Loot and Scoot Bride”.
According to media reports, she used to marry men through court marriages in different states. Just days after the wedding, she would steal jewellery and cash and disappear.
The scam came to light when a man from Rajasthan, Vishnu Sharma, reported that his wife went missing with valuables just 12 days after their wedding.
Investigations revealed that Anuradha was part of a gang that used agents and WhatsApp to show fake profiles of brides to men. The gang charged ₹200,000 to ₹500,000 per marriage.
