Bagan: A convoy of 35 vehicles carrying vital relief supplies was ambushed by unidentified gunmen near Bagan on Thursday while travelling towards Parachinar in Lower Kurram, security sources confirmed.

The convoy, accompanied by security forces, was targeted by attackers who opened fire from both sides of the road near Bagan. The gunmen also launched a rocket, striking one of the vehicles in the convoy. The attack occurred after the convoy came to a halt when one of its vehicles was damaged.

In response, the security forces returned fire, causing the attackers to flee the scene. Following the incident, the convoy proceeded back to Tull, sources added. Thankfully, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries so far.

This attack comes on the heels of a previous relief mission when a convoy of 40 vehicles, carrying food, medicine, and other essential supplies, reached Kurram district on January 8. The area had been isolated due to a 94-day road closure caused by violent tribal clashes. The convoy was sent by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to assist the affected population. Following the earlier delivery, 10 trucks were directed to Bagan, while the remaining 30 trucks reached Parachinar.

Authorities are investigating the attack, and further updates are awaited.
