Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has officially announced his retirement from Test cricket, marking the end of a significant chapter in his illustrious career. However, the veteran batter confirmed that he will continue to play One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for India.

The 38-year-old cricketer shared the news through an Instagram story,g, Hello everyone, I would like to share that I am retiring from Test cricket. It’s been an absolute honour to represent my country as a white person. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format.”

Rohit had earlier stepped away from T20 internationals after leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup held in the West Indies — India’s second title in the shortest format.

Known for his elegant stroke play and calm leadership, Rohit Sharma made his Test debut in 2013 and quickly became a key figure in India’s batting lineup. His performances at home and abroad, especially as a Test opener, earned him accolades from fans and critics alike.
