Pakistan’s young opener Saim Ayub had a tough start in the Asia Cup opener against Oman, as he was dismissed for a first-ball duck. Oman’s bowler Shah Faisal trapped him lbw when he attempted to play the ball on the leg side.

This was the fourth time in Saim Ayub’s T20 career that he has been dismissed without scoring. With this, he joined the list of Pakistani openers Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Hafeez, who also have four ducks each in T20 internationals.

Among Pakistani openers, Babar Azam holds the unwanted record with six ducks, while Kamran Akmal follows with five. Saim Ayub is now tied in third place, ahead of Hasan Nawaz and Shahzaib Hasan, who both have three ducks each.

Despite these setbacks, Saim Ayub’s overall T20 career numbers remain promising. He has a batting average in the low thirties and a strike rate of 136.22. Experts and fans believe the young left-hander has the talent to deliver consistent performances in the future.
