Saudi Arabia Makes Nutritional Disclosure Mandatory for Restaurants and Cafes

RIYADH: Starting tomorrow, all restaurants and cafes in Saudi Arabia will be required to clearly display full nutritional information for every food and beverage item on their menus—whether printed, electronic, or online.

According to the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), menus must now include details such as calories, fat, sugar, salt, caffeine, and allergy-causing ingredients. Items with high salt content must be marked with a salt shaker symbol, while menus must also mention the estimated time needed to burn off the calories consumed from each item.

This initiative aims to promote transparency and healthier food choices, empowering consumers to make informed dietary decisions.
