Murree authorities have announced a two-day closure of all educational institutions following directives from Punjab’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). The decision comes after warnings of heavy rainfall and possible landslides in the region.

According to PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia, safety measures are being enforced under the instructions of Punjab’s Chief Minister. He emphasised that protecting citizens during this weather emergency remains the government’s top priority.

Murree has already recorded around 74 millimetres of rainfall since early morning, raising fears of flooding and land movement. The continuous downpour has put infrastructure and public safety at serious risk.

Forecasts predict more rain over the next two days in Rawalpindi, Murree, Jhelum, Chakwal, and Attock. Officials warn residents to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel to vulnerable areas.

The PDMA has issued special advisories and instructed local administrations to remain on high alert. Emergency response teams have also been deployed to manage any potential disaster situations.

Authorities have assured citizens that all available resources are being used to minimise risks from possible cloudbursts, landslides, and heavy flooding. Residents are urged to follow official guidelines for their own safety.
