PM Shehbaz Sharif Says Balochistan’s Progress Is Key to Pakistan’s Prosperity

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that Pakistan’s development depends on working together with the people of Balochistan, urging all citizens to play their part in national progress.
Addressing participants of the Balochistan Workshop, the Prime Minister said that Allah Almighty has blessed Balochistan with immense natural resources, yet “unfortunately, much of its wealth still lies buried beneath the ground.”
He said that Balochistan’s history, culture, and traditions make it unique, and reminded that Baloch leaders voluntarily decided to join Pakistan — a decision that remains a cornerstone of national unity.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the province’s geographical structure has become a major development challenge, noting that access to electricity, roads, and other basic facilities in remote areas remains limited.
He stressed that no sector — including education and industry — can progress without a strong road network.

Shehbaz Sharif said that Balochistan’s development is directly linked to Pakistan’s overall prosperity, calling past neglect of the province “a moment of national self-reflection.”
He reminded that the spirit of federation lies in mutual sacrifice and brotherhood, citing Punjab’s historic contribution in the 2010 NFC Award as an example of national solidarity.
“We are Pakistanis first and provincial residents later,” he said. “The people of Balochistan are our brothers, and they must be equal partners in the journey of national development.”
The Prime Minister noted that Pakistan had successfully eliminated terrorism by 2018, but militant activity is once again re-emerging in Balochistan and other regions.
He paid tribute to the security forces for their daily sacrifices in maintaining peace and stability across the country.
