Sindh High Court
Karachi – The Sindh High Court (SHC) expressed dissatisfaction on Thursday as senior officials, including the Director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), SSP Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and SSP Malir, failed to appear in a hearing regarding the recovery of a missing citizen, Sardar Mohammad Asif.

During the proceedings, a CTD focal person informed the court that the SSP CTD was currently abroad performing Umrah. In response, the petitioner’s lawyer requested the court to summon reports from both the Director of FIA and SSP CTD regarding the case.

The lawyer further revealed that Asif had gone missing previously but was later found, only to disappear again. A kidnapping case has been registered against unknown culprits.

The court also issued a restraining order preventing Asif’s deportation, following claims that he was being wrongly identified as an Afghan national. The lawyer argued that the Afghanistan Supreme Court had already ruled that Asif is not an Afghan citizen.

Asif was reportedly abducted on December 17, 2024, from the Sachal police station jurisdiction. The court has now summoned the FIA Director to appear in the next hearing, scheduled for April 16. Additionally, notices have been issued regarding the blocking of national identity cards of the missing citizen’s family.
