South Korea’s Suspended President Yoon Suk-yeol Arrested

Seoul – South Korea’s suspended president, Yoon Suk-yeol, has been arrested. Investigators entered his official residence compound using ladders to carry out the arrest.
According to foreign news agencies, the investigative team consisted of nearly a thousand officials who arrived at the presidential palace. However, upon their arrival, presidential guards and Yoon’s supporters resisted the arrest, attempting to prevent it. Despite this, Yoon Suk-yeol was eventually taken into custody.
Anti-corruption investigators stated that Yoon Suk-yeol was finally arrested, and the Joint Investigation Headquarters executed the arrest warrant against him.
Earlier, investigators had been blocked in their efforts to make the arrest, even after showing the arrest warrants. The Corruption Investigation Office has announced that those who obstruct the enforcement of the warrants will be detained.
Before the arrest, thousands of Yoon Suk-yeol’s supporters gathered outside the presidential palace, protesting in his support. Thirty lawmakers from his ruling party, the People Power Party, also arrived at the presidential palace, voicing their support for the suspended president.
It is important to note that President Yoon Suk-yeol is facing impeachment proceedings for imposing a short-term martial law on December 3. A case is currently being heard in the Constitutional Court to determine whether the martial law constituted an act of rebellion or not.
