Steve Smith announces retirement from One-Day International cricket

Australian cricketer Steve Smith has announced his retirement from One-Day International (ODI) cricket, bringing an end to a remarkable career in the format. The announcement came on Wednesday, following Australia’s semi-final exit at the Champions Trophy.
Smith, who played a pivotal role in Australia’s ODI success, was part of two World Cup-winning campaigns. Having made his debut in 2010, he went on to establish himself as one of the most consistent performers in the team. Over the years, he accumulated thousands of runs and delivered several match-winning performances.
Speaking about his decision, Smith expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had in ODI cricket. “It has been an incredible journey, and I am proud of what I have achieved with the team. Winning two World Cups remains a highlight of my career,” he stated.
