Strong winds continued to batter south-western Scotland, England, and Wales on Tuesday as Storm Chandra swept across the region.

Weather conditions remained volatile, with hazardous gusts prompting safety warnings and travel alerts across affected areas of the UK.

Storm Chandra is the third major storm in January, following Ingrid and Goretti, making this one of the most turbulent months in recent years.

Northern Ireland was heavily affected, with over 10,000 properties losing electricity and more than 300 schools forced to close due to safety concerns.

Travel faced widespread disruption. Belfast Airport saw multiple flight cancellations, Loganair cancelled 12 Scottish regional flights, and ferry services were also halted.

The Republic of Ireland also suffered, with around 20,000 homes, farms, and businesses losing power due to wind-related infrastructure damage.
