Telugu Actor Fish Venkat Passes Away at 53

Well-known Telugu actor Fish Venkat has passed away at the age of 53 after a prolonged battle with kidney-related complications. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad and had been on dialysis for the past several months.

According to family sources, the actor’s condition had worsened in recent weeks, leading to his admission to the intensive care unit (ICU). He was placed on a ventilator, and doctors had recommended an immediate kidney transplant. Unfortunately, a suitable donor could not be found in time, and Venkat succumbed to kidney failure.

Born as Venkat Raj, the actor earned the nickname “Fish Venkat” after a comedic role referencing a fish market—a character that became one of his most recognisable performances. He was introduced to the film industry by the late director Dasari Narayana Rao in the film Samka Saraka.

For his career, Fish Venkat appeared in over 100 Telugu films, playing both comic and villainous roles with equal ease.
